Introduction
This workshop, the third in a series dedicated to the mental health of immigrant seniors, aimed to explore strategies to improve the mental well-being of older immigrants, particularly by reducing isolation and better managing stress.
Workshop Overview
The session began with a presentation by Reginald Alexis on the impacts of isolation and stress on seniors’ mental health. He emphasized the importance of social engagement, healthy routines, and community support.
Discussions focused on:
The importance of social interaction and support networks
Stress management techniques adapted for seniors
The benefits of physical activity and relaxation practices
Access to local resources for improved psychological support
Exchange and Participation
Participants actively shared their personal experiences and expressed concerns about the challenges of isolation. Practical strategies were proposed to support their mental and emotional well-being.
