Target Audience: RAFIO beneficiaries (youth, single-parent families, and seniors)
Introduction
This consultation session was organized to gather feedback from RAFIO beneficiaries regarding the services provided by the organization and to identify ways to better meet the needs of Black and Francophone immigrant communities.
The day was structured into three separate sessions, each dedicated to a specific beneficiary group: youth, single-parent families, and seniors. The discussions provided an opportunity for participants to share their experiences, identify challenges, and offer recommendations for improving RAFIO’s programs and services.
Session Overview
Part One: Discussion with Youth
Key topics discussed included:
Accessibility and effectiveness of RAFIO’s services for young people;
Challenges related to integration, education, employment, and personal development;
Suggestions for improving support programs, particularly in the areas of employment, mentorship, and skills development.
Participants emphasized the importance of creating more opportunities for professional growth and networking while strengthening programs that support youth integration and success.
Part Two: Discussion with Single-Parent Families
Key areas of discussion included:
Experiences and challenges related to single parenthood and access to support services;
Specific needs concerning childcare, financial assistance, and mental health support;
Recommendations for strengthening family support services and networking opportunities among families.
Participants highlighted the importance of accessible and responsive services that address the unique realities faced by single-parent households.
Part Three: Discussion with Seniors
Topics discussed included:
Social isolation and access to healthcare services for immigrant seniors;
The importance of community activities in fostering social connections and well-being;
Suggestions for improving inclusion and adapting services to meet the specific needs of older adults.
Participants stressed the value of community engagement initiatives that help reduce isolation and promote active participation in community life.
Conclusion and Recommendations
The consultation session provided valuable insight into the expectations, experiences, and needs of RAFIO beneficiaries. Participants expressed appreciation for the services currently offered while identifying several opportunities for improvement.
Key recommendations included:
Strengthening communication between RAFIO and its beneficiaries to improve awareness and accessibility of services;
Developing targeted initiatives for youth, particularly in training, mentorship, and employment readiness;
Providing more personalized support for single-parent families;
Expanding intergenerational activities to foster stronger community connections and reduce social isolation among seniors.
These recommendations will help guide RAFIO’s future planning and service delivery, ensuring that programs remain responsive to the evolving needs of the communities served.
